This week, instead of my usual Things I Heart post, I thought I’d help out those of you who have suddenly realized it’s Halloween weekend! I know I’ve had years when I wasn’t sure if I’d be going out and plans materialized at the last minute or I was just having a seriously difficult time choosing a costume. Here are a few ideas from yours truly that you should be able to easily put together.

Ron f*#king Swanson

If you don’t know who Ron Swanson is, you should probably go watch Parks and Recreation immediately. All you need for this costume is a polo shirt tucked into a pair of slacks, a side-swept ‘do, and a seriously rocking moustache. Bonus points if you carry around a plastic baggy full of bacon or a steak.

In the same vein, it would be pretty awesome to dress up as Miss Leslie Knope herself! Pawnee Goddess-style: a utilitarian vest with patches, a lilac shirt, khakis, and a can-do attitude.

Blanky from The Brave Little Toaster

Seriously, who didn’t love Blanky? Have a yellow snuggy? Done! (You can even make his little face out of cardboard, etc.)

Velma from Scooby Doo

We all know Velma was quite the dish. Have an orange sweater, red skirt, and maybe a pair of thick frames? Grab those knee-highs and you’re all set!

An Employee of Party Down Catering

Again, if you aren’t familiar with Party Down, you should probably rectify that situation immediately (it currently happens to all be on Netflix Instant watch!). For the costume, all you need is a crisp, white button-down, a pair of black pants, a pink bow tie, and plenty of sass.

Bridesmaids is, without a doubt, my favorite movie of 2011. This would be so perfect for a group of girlfriends. Hit up the closest Goodwill or thrift store, find the most frightening discarded bridesmaids dresses you can find, and go have a blast! Bonus points if one of you rocks the wedding dress.

Obviously, these are just a few ideas of infinite options out there. Most importantly: be creative, be safe, and have a blast! Happy Halloween! 🙂
