Hey guys! Sorry for disappearing completely for a while there. I spent about six weeks working on Mark Wright’s Hollywood Nights and the schedule essentially took over my life. We did a bunch of fun things like going to Yosemite for five days where I snapped the above shot. THEN one of my very best friends got married on the 17th, so any spare time I did have kind of went towards that! It’s been crazy and fun and I’ve loved every minute of it.

Here’s Kim and I after her rehearsal dinner – bride and maid of honor! So basically with the show wrapped and Kim off on her honeymoon, I have quite a bit more free time at the moment. I’m hoping to use some of it to get back to the fashion, fun, and geekery formerly present here. I admittedly already have quite a few outfit photos piled up for posts and with Meli & Augi‘s visit for Comic Con only a few weeks away, I’m sure I’ll have plenty to write about! I hope at least some of you are still around to read it. xx Anika

+ Rang in the new year at a beautiful old house in Echo Park with my lovely friend Cassandra. Post-midnight countdown we sat in a park across the street looking out over all of Los Angeles, loads of stars, and watching random fireworks go off down below. It was a magical beginning to 2012.

This month in Instagram, all from left to right:

  • My first winter seasonal of the year, perfect avocados for guacamole, & a rainy California morning.
  • A visit to an awesome new bookshop: Mysterious Galaxy, sunset from a Palos Verdes cliff, & Redondo Beach from the top of the hill of death.
  • The first time I’ve seen 6am in quite a while, a portobello for my vegetarian Thanksgiving dish, & Kimba, of course.

  • The Mary Sue: “A Guide to Girl Geek Culture.” They seem to write about anything and everything that can be considered geeky, from comics to Game of Thrones to Wizarding World of Harry Potter, all from the female perspective.
  • Girls Read Comics Too: “The Comic World From a Female Point of View.” A similar concept to The Mary Sue, but this one’s focused entirely on comics. One of my favorite things they do is a feature called “Women in Comics” that highlights female authors, artists, etc. in the male-dominated comic world.

Sunday Funday: Lazy Weekend

Yeah those are my night and day Disney princess looks.Sometimes you just need to have a decidedly lazy weekend: that’s what this one has been for me, so I can’t say I have too much to share. I did spend an embarrassing amount of time playing around with the Princess Maker last night while marathoning Season 1 of The Vampire Diaries.

I actually watched Season 1 of Vampire Diaries about a year ago on a whim, but Season 2 wasn’t out on DVD yet, so it kind of fell by the wayside. Imagine my delight when I noticed that Seasons 1 and 2 are on Netflix instant now! Since it’s been a while, I’m rewatching Season 1 first, but I’m excited to get caught up. Let’s face it: it may be a “teen” show by definition, but that is one seriously attractive cast, the stories are great, and there’s plenty of snarky one-liners from Mr. Damon Salvatore up there. My personal favorite has to be after he bemoans that he doesn’t “get” Twilight and follows it up with, “I miss Anne Rice. She was so on it.” That she was, Damon. That she was.
